Who can consider applying?
- You must be a native speaker of English and have good, clear standard pronunciation.
- You must be 21 to 70 years of age.
- You need to have a college or University Degree.
- Candidates who are 18 years plus- without a degree- may be considered as Language Support Assistants.
- You need to be in good health and be able to work in hot and humid conditions.
- You will need to pay for the cost of your trip including medical insurance. The cost for 2012 was about £1500 plus any extras for pocket money and personal expenses.
- You need to be available normally from the first week in July. The course often runs from 3rd July to 3rd August which covers part of the period when the Chinese Teachers have their summer break. Dates will be confirmed in the new year.
- You do not have to be a Teacher. Teaching experience is helpful and desirable but not essential to being accepted. For the benefit of those who do not have a teaching background, Amity provides some basic teacher training during the 3 day orientation prior to the start of the teaching programme itself. What the Chinese participants need most is practice in listening and speaking; as a fluent speaker of English you already have the basic skills necessary to provide that practice.
