Polymer Engineering International
an international network of leading polymer engineering researchers
Building on the great success of our Science Bridges China platform, we wiil encourage and support short term exchanges of early career researchers between member laboratories. For information, these are shown in the Polymer IRC book on its strategic links with China - please select here to download a pdf version - see pages 22-25, and pages 20-21 for high level publications which have arisen from these exchanges. In addition, significant joint funding is shown on page 30.
Based on our successful experience, we propose research exchanges using the following guidelines:
Research Exchanges will normally involve Early Career Researchers from one laboratory spending around one month at a host laboratory. Early Career Researchers will typically be Research Students, post-doctoral researchers, or early career academic staff.
The sending laboratory will normally cover transport costs for the Researcher, e.g. international air fares
Each Research Exchange should be logged as part of the Polymer Engineering International network - a template is provided here to help define each Exchange. Please send this to Hailing Harper, h.harper@bradford.ac.uk to ensure we have a record of activities.
The host laboratory will normally cover living costs for the Researcher, including accomodation and subsistence.
These are not rigid guidelines - the sending or host laboratories may agree to entirely fund or share costs in different ways. There are also competitive funding schemes, several of which we have been able to access successfully.

Bursaries
We would like to offer a number of bursaries to help cover some (or all) of the costs of particular Research Exchanges between Bradford and other partners, and are in discussion with some organisations about this. We will provide more information soon.
