A UK-China Advanced Materials Research Institute event

·   Bringing together Chinese and UK scientists and invited industrialists who are interested in Advanced Materials (for healthcare - and beyond) – i.e. we are retaining a healthcare thrust, but broadening this to other areas for advanced materials exploitation.

·   Creating an opportunity for UK and Chinese collaborators, many of whom are involved in joint research programmes or bids, to develop further links, bids and projects.

Sessions will include a formal opening, then technical presentations aimed particularly at reflecting gaps and opportunities  - with a view to joint research, researcher exchanges, bids (in UK, in China or joint calls) and potential collaborative projects with industry.  There will again be a special Research Exchange session.

On Tuesday 6 May there will be a Workshop ‘Creating and Taking Opportunities’ to develop ideas (this has been a very energising feature of our previous workshops in China and the UK), where we form groups to develop further opportunities or ideas.  These will include:

(iii) project discussions, inc the new MRC/MOST joint project due to start

(iv) Researcher Exchange opportunities

(v) joint research students, inc bids to Chinese Scholarship Council, etc
